Mission Statement
The mission of the Early Career Committee is to support and advance the professional development of AACN members who are within 10 years of completing their two-year neuropsychology post-doctoral fellowship. The committee aims to address the unique needs and challenges faced by early career professionals in the field of neuropsychology.
Committee Purpose
This committee is important because it recognizes the critical transition period between completing formal training and establishing a successful career in neuropsychology. Early career professionals face unique challenges and have specific needs that differ from those of more established members. By focusing on this group, AACN can ensure the continued growth and success of the field by nurturing its newest practitioners and researchers.
Activities and Initiatives
- Identify and assess the specific needs of early career neuropsychology professionals.
- Develop and implement programs to increase access to career resources for early career members.
- Create opportunities for early career members to gain professional service experience within AACN.
- Promote and facilitate career advancement opportunities for early career professionals.
- Encourage and support board certification among early career members.
- Organize networking events and mentorship programs to connect early career professionals with more experienced AACN members.
- Collaborate with other AACN committees to ensure that the perspectives and needs of early career professionals are considered in the organization’s broader initiatives.
- Regularly evaluate and report on the effectiveness of the committee’s initiatives to the AACN Board of Directors.

Eligibility Requirements
Committee members must be AACN members, at any level, in good standing who agree to assist the Committee in fulfilling its various responsibilities. Members of standing committees shall be subject to re-approval as each new President assumes office. Members of standing committees shall serve for a customary limit of six years (three 2-year terms) unless extended by recommendation of the President, subject to Board approval. Members transitioning from early-career status during a term complete their term in an ex officio role and may serve in an ex officio role for up to one year after that term is completed at the discretion of the Chair.
