The American Academy of Clinical Neuropsychology (AACN) and Society for Clinical Neuropsychology (SCN; APA Division 40) are seeking nominations for the 2025 Karen Postal Outstanding Mentorship Award. This award recognizes a neuropsychologist who has shaped the future direction of clinical neuropsychology by fostering the careers of neuropsychology students and colleagues.
The Karen Postal Outstanding Mentorship Award honors the importance of mentoring in the field of neuropsychology, as well as the dedication and impact of individuals with a distinguished record of guiding, teaching, advising, and encouraging students and colleagues, including those who are connected to few other resources in the field.
This will be a non-monetary award. An honorary plaque will be presented at either the AACN conference or SCN conference, as selected by the recipient.
Award Criteria:
Nominees must meet the following criteria:
- Clinical neuropsychologist and member of either SCN or AACN.
- Have significantly impacted the professional work and personal development of mentee(s) as illustrated in 2 testimonial letters and broadly evident in their vita.
- Nominees will generally be individuals who have been teaching, working, mentoring, and/or supervising in the field for at least 10 years, but early career professionals will certainly be considered.
Submission Guidelines:
Nominations and self-nominations are welcome. Nominators must be a student or professional member of SCN or AACN.
The nomination materials should include, in a single submission:
- Two testimonial letters, each no longer than two (2) pages single-spaced. Letters should provide detailed information about the mentor and the scope and significance of their mentoring of students or professionals in neuropsychology. Clearly state how the mentor went above and beyond their job responsibilities to uniquely change individual trajectories.
- A recent copy of the nominee’s vita. The format is flexible, but the individual’s broader role in mentorship activity should be evident, as that will be the primary focus of vita review.
- A maximum of four (4) supplemental letters from mentees may be added in an Appendix.
Please submit the above materials as a single submission to aacnawards@gmail.com. Questions about the award or submission process can also be directed to the AACN Awards Committee at the above email address.
Submission deadline: January 20, 2025.
