Student Representative Positions
Each year, the AACN Student and Trainee Affairs Committee (STAC) selects neuropsychology trainees for the following leadership positions:
- Student Representative to the AACN Board of Directors
- Student Representative to the AACN Publications Committee (alternating years)
Both positions are two-year terms and run from May 1 of the initial year to April 30 of the second year. Graduate students and interns with active student/trainee member status in AACN are invited to apply.
Student Representative to the Board of Directors
The Student Representative to the AACN Board of Directors (BOD) is selected to join the BOD for a two-year term as a non-voting member. As Student Representative, the individual will provide valuable insight from the perspective of trainees to AACN BOD activities. Duties of the Student Representative involve attending the AACN Board meetings at the June AACN conference and the February INS conference and participating (via email and phone conference) in BOD discussions and in student-related AACN activities.
The student representative to the AACN BOD receives $500 travel deferment for participating (on site) in each of the two annual meetings to help offset additional costs (personal meals [no alcohol], lodging, transportation, poster costs). The student representative also receives free registration to the annual AACN meeting.

Student Representative to the Publications Committee
The Student Representative to the AACN Publications Committee (PC) is selected to join the PC for a two-year position as a non-voting member. The mission of the AACN Publications Committee is to serve as a conduit for official AACN publications, which are most often educative in nature and for the benefit of AACN members, the general neuropsychology community, or the public. The Publications Committee embodies AACN’s inherent interests in improving and expanding the quality of available information that addresses and supports evidence-based practice and knowledge that represent the highest expectations regarding the specialty of clinical neuropsychology.
- Participate in ongoing meetings (typically virtually every other month).
- Provide ideas from the student’s perspective to the PC and participate (as a non-voting member) in discussion of all action items presented to the PC through both in-person meetings and email-based conversations.
- Assist with the development, planning, and implementation of student activities at the annual AACN conference through participation in the Student and Trainee Affairs Committee.
Benefits of these leadership opportunities:
- Meet leaders in the field and discuss important topics that arise in the organization and in the field as a whole.
- Participate in governance in preparation for various leadership opportunities in the field.
- Be an ambassador for AACN to reach out to trainees in neuropsychology regarding opportunities in leadership, training and research.
- Promote the AACN Student and Trainee Affairs Committee (STAC) and all of its efforts.
