Brief Program Description

The Division of Pediatric Neuropsychology at Children’s National Hospital offers two-year, full-time postdoctoral fellowships in neuropsychology. There are 2-3 openings each year. Upon completion of the fellowship, trainees will have gained the necessary clinical and research skills for independent practice in pediatric neuropsychology, as well as the knowledge base to pursue board certification in clinical neuropsychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP). Postdoctoral fellows complete outpatient neuropsychological evaluations with a range of patient populations, including children and adolescents with medical diagnoses and those with neurodevelopmental disorders. Training opportunities also include rotations through the Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders, SCORE Program, Comprehensive Pediatric Epilepsy Program, Hematology/Oncology program and other medical and neurodevelopmental rotations. Specialty training for bilingual (Spanish-speaking) trainees is available. Postdoctoral fellows participate in formal didactics and professional development opportunities such as providing supervision to pre-doctoral trainees. Residency positions are funded for at least 20 percent of research time. Children’s National is a proud member of the Association of Postdoctoral Programs in Clinical Neuropsychology (APPCN) and we will participate in the Neuropsychology Resident Matching Program administered by the National Matching Service.
