Brief Program Description

Alberta Children’s Hospital (ACH) is Southern Alberta’s major treatment, teaching, and research facility for children with complex medical problems. Within this multidisciplinary and collaborative healthcare environment, neuropsychologists function provide a wide range of clinical services. This includes neuropsychological assessment of children with a variety of neurological and medical conditions such as intractable epilepsy, concussion/traumatic brain injury, stroke, brain tumors, hydrocephalus, metabolic disorders, genetic disorders, cardiac conditions, and infectious diseases such as encephalitis and meningitis. Children are generally seen as part of comprehensive multidisciplinary investigations requested by treating neurologists, neurosurgeons, pediatricians, and physiatrists from a variety of clinics and programs across the hospital. This is a two-year fellowship designed to follow the program guidelines set forth by the Association of Postdoctoral Programs in Clinical Neuropsychology (APPCN); graduating fellows are eligible for board certification through ABPP.
