QUALIFICATIONS

Required: Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology or Neuropsychology – required.

Required: Licensure/license eligible by the State of Connecticut as a Psychologist – required.

Preferred: Completion of a two year post-doctoral training program in Neuropsychology or equivalent supervised training experience in Neuropsychology.

Preferred: Minimum of one year experience working in a rehabilitation or chronic care setting with a variety of patient populations.

Preferred: Board Certified in clinical neuropsychology.

 

JOB SUMMARY

·   The Neuropsychologist performs evaluations in the Outpatient Physician’s Clinic for a wide range of conditions related to central nervous system dysfunction. Referrals include dementia, Parkinson’s disease and Parkinson Plus Syndromes, deep-brain stimulation evaluations, mild cognitive impairment, traumatic brain injury, multiple sclerosis, autism, ADHD, and neuropsychiatric disorders. Additionally, the Neuropsychologist provides inpatient consultations as needed and participates in on-call coverage for suicide risk management.      

 

WORK DEMANDS

This position requires working in the hospital, particularly on the patient units part of the time. This means occasional exposure to wet, humid, or dry conditions, as well noise, odors, hazards, and blood borne pathogens. The Neuropsychologist occasionally works alone, but usually is working with a variety of individuals, often in crowded areas. This position also requires on-call coverage for at least one week per month for the whole department.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provides appropriate, timely evaluation and follow-up with assigned patients, per departmental policies. Documentation and billing is completed per departmental and hospital requirements.

Provides prompt suicide risk screenings, per policy, of assigned patients, with immediate documentation of results. Follows all guidelines of the on-call policy.

Provides consultation, direct care services, and other needed activities, as requested by the Medical Director of Neuropsychology.

Supports research endeavors that may require his/her participation.

Keeps the Medical Director of Neuropsychology  informed regarding patient issues, potential complaints, and system problems or concerns, as well as personal productivity.

Maintains awareness of, and adheres to, hospital policies and procedures. This includes the Hospital QI and Psychology QI programs, as well as OPPE, Peer Review, and departmental educational opportunities.
