SIGs Application

Call for Applicants: Chair and Co-Chair Positions for AACN Dementia and Brain Injury Special Interest Groups (SIGs)

We are excited to announce opportunities for members to apply for leadership roles as Chair or Co-Chair of the newly approved AACN Dementia Special Interest Group (SIG) and the Brain Injury Special Interest Group (SIG). The Brain Injury SIG encompasses adult and pediatric traumatic brain injury and stroke. These newly formed SIGs will provide essential spaces for collaboration, education, and advancement in these critical areas of our field.

Selected applicants will have the unique chance to shape and build these groups from the ground up, helping to foster vibrant communities focused on:

  • Facilitating collaborations, discussions, and best practices within these specialized fields
  • Engaging trainees and fostering mentorship opportunities
  • Organizing webinars throughout the year
  • Providing continuing education sessions at our annual conference
  • Developing written materials in collaboration with the AACN Publications Committee

Application and Eligibility

  • Chair Requirements: The Chair of a SIG must be board certified by ABCN (Active/Senior member).
  • Co-Chair Requirements: The Co-Chair may be from any membership category.
  • Dual Leadership Arrangements: If both the Chair and Co-Chair are Active and/or Senior Members, they may choose to designate one as Chair and the other as Co-Chair, or they may both be listed as Co-Chairs based on their preference.

Applications will be reviewed by a working group on the Board of Directors. While all applications will be considered, we especially encourage those who have not previously held leadership roles within AACN and individuals from historically underrepresented backgrounds to apply.

This is a tremendous opportunity to make a lasting impact in the fields of dementia and brain injury, supporting our mission to pursue excellence in psychological education, especially as it concerns the clinical neuropsychological sciences.

We look forward to receiving your applications and seeing the energy and innovation you bring to these new initiatives. Please submit your application using the below form. Applications are due by December 4, 2024.
