What is the format of this year's conference?

For the 21st Annual AACN Conference, we will again provide the best of both worlds: a traditional live (in-person) conference in Washington, DC and a virtual component.

The in-person conference will provide the fully immersive experience to which AACN conference attendees are accustomed: live workshops, special meetings, and various enriching activities. Plus, we will all be together with our friends and colleagues for the social gatherings and fun that an in-person event facilitates. However, not everyone will be able to attend a live event for various reasons. Furthermore, since several workshops and meetings are scheduled simultaneously, one would usually have to pick one workshop at the expense of another. Our virtual component solves both problems.

The virtual component of the AACN 21st Annual Conference will consist of pre-recorded CE workshops. Our presenters will record their talks in advance of the live conference. Those talks will then be made available to conference registrants on Thursday, June 8, 2023. These videos will remain available for three months (until 9/10/2023).

The Scientific Poster Session will be held in a traditional in-person format in Washington, DC.

In sum, those who attend the live conference will have access to the workshops that they missed, and those unable to travel to the conference will be able to enjoy all of the workshops and earn CE credit. What’s not to love?

For my in-person registration, I need to change one or more of my workshop selections.

No problem! Anyone currently registered may log in to our website and then click on Conference & CE -> Conference 2023 -> My Registration.

On that page, you will see your registration details. Click on the link (“Click to Edit”), then make any needed changes. Click on Update to save your changes.

I need to switch from in-person to virtual (or the reverse).

No problem! Anyone currently registered may log in to our website and then click on Conference & CE -> Conference 2023 -> My Registration.

On that page, you will see your registration details. Click on the link (“Click to Edit”), then make any needed changes. Click on Update to save your changes.

When will the virtual workshops be available? How long do we have to access them?

The virtual workshops will be available on our website beginning Thursday, June 8, 2023. They will remain available until three months after the conclusion of the in-person conference (September 10, 2023).

How do I check in for a workshop and receive CE credit?

Each person who registers for the conference has a QR code representing the person’s registration details. Think of it like a boarding pass for a flight. You may show the QR code on your smartphone’s screen or display a printed copy (again, just like a boarding pass). The QR code will be printed on the back side of your name badge if you’re attending the in-person conference. QR codes do not apply to virtual attendees.

For the workshops that offer CE credit, we will be recording attendance. Simply show your QR code to one of our student assistants, and it will be scanned. That’s it!

To receive continuing education credit for an in-person workshop, you must (1) have your attendance recorded as described above and (2) complete a post-workshop evaluation form. Once you do so, you will receive a CE certificate by email, and it will be stored in your AACN website account.

Where do I pick up my name badge?

To pick up your badge or for help during the on-site conference, come to the conference help desk on the Ballroom Level (two floors below the Lobby Level) at the Potomac Ballroom Registration area from 3 – 7 pm on Wednesday, 7 am – 5 pm on Thursday, 7 am – 5 pm on Friday, and 8 am – 9:30 am on Saturday.

How do I get on the WiFi in the conference area?

Your registration fee includes access to WiFi in the conference space.

Network Name: Renaissance_Conference
Password: AACN2023

Wi-Fi access will become available at 8:00 AM on Wednesday, June 7, 2023.

I heard that the hotel's fitness center is closed. What's the alternative?

The hotel’s fitness center is closed for renovation, but they have partnered with Equinox for full usage of their gym services. Equinox is located just next door, accessible via Anthem Row, through the Lobby exit/entrance. Guests will need to stop by the Front Desk to sign out a key, with their personal photo ID, and will need to ensure the key is returned timely, in order to avoid a missing key fee.

Where's a good place to eat?

The onsite option available for lunch at the hotel is Liberty Market, which is located on the lobby level of the hotel and opens daily at 11:00 a.m. Liberty Market offers sandwiches, salads, snacks, and assorted beverages including soft drinks and bottled water. During peak lunch hours, Liberty Market will have an additional location set up in the lobby area to help expedite purchases from 12pm – 2pm based on the volume of business.

The hotel also provided us with the following list of quick lunch options nearby, as well as a lengthier list of nearby restaurants.

I want to post a meetup or job posting. Is there an online message board?

Yes! The online conference message board is available to those who are registered for the conference and logged into our website.

How do I pick the workshops and events that I want to attend?

If you will attend the live event, you will indicate this preference when you register and select the workshops and events that you want to attend at that time. If you need to make changes later, you may do so.

For the virtual component, no such selections are necessary: all of the CE workshops will be available to you.

How do I get a copy of the agenda, workshop abstracts, and poster abstracts?

Here are links to the pages with our agenda, workshop abstracts, and poster abstracts. Kindly note that we are no longer providing printed copies of these materials to reduce costs and our environmental impact. However, you may opt to receive a printed copy of the agenda for an additional $10 fee when registering on our website. Printed copies of the agenda will not be available on-site to purchase; they may only be ordered when registering on our website. All orders must be received by 11:59 PM CDT on Sunday, June 4, 2023.

When and where is the AACN Foundation Event?

The Reception/Game/Eating will occur at Nationals Park on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at 7:05 PM.

Please visit the AACN Foundation website for all the details of this exciting event!

What's the deal with parking at the hotel, getting to and from the airport, etc.?

Please see this page on the hotel’s website for more information.

How do the virtual workshops differ from the in-person workshops?

The virtual and in-person workshops are essentially identical in terms of content. However, the in-person workshops will include a Q&A period and a short break. As a result, the virtual workshops are slightly longer in length due to an absence of Q&A and a break. The APA requires that virtual (“home study”) CEs approximate the full credited time.

What are the dimensions for the posters?

Maximum poster dimensions are 3’ high x 4’ wide.

Are you an APA approved CE provider?

Yes! The American Academy of Clinical Neuropsychology is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The American Academy of Clinical Neuropsychology maintains responsibility for this program and its content.

Please note that APA treats live events differently from pre-recorded ones. The virtual component of this year’s conference will count as “home study” for CE purposes, whereas the live component will not have that designation. Please be sure to check your state/province/territory’s requirements regarding continuing education.

Do the CE credits count for those licensed in New York?

Yes! As of May 28, 2021, The American Academy of Clinical Neuropsychology is recognized by the New York State Education Department’s State Board for Psychology as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed psychologists (#PSY-0094).

Please note that NY State treats live events differently from pre-recorded ones. The virtual component of this year’s conference will count as “home study” for CE purposes, whereas the live component will not have that designation.

Effective January 1, 2021, the State of New York began requiring each Licensed Psychologist to complete 36 hours of approved continuing education courses for each triennial registration period.

What childcare options are available?

Although the hotel does not have preferred vendors for childcare, some of their guests have utilized the below companies:

Please note that neither the hotel nor AACN endorse or recommend these vendors. The hotel provided them as a courtesy.

Is there a private space set aside for nursing mothers?

Yes! Meeting Planner Office B is set aside for nursing mothers. This room is near the Help Desk. The Help Desk is located at Potomac Registration on the Ballroom Level (two floors below the Lobby Level, one floor below the Meeting Room Level).

What date will be listed on my CE certificates?

After attending a live conference event, you will complete an evaluation form. The date on the CE certificate will be the date of the live event.

By contrast, after you view a pre-recorded workshop, you will need to pass a quiz based on the content and complete an evaluation form. (These are required for “home study” CE offerings.) Once you do so, the date on the CE certificate will be the day that you passed the quiz and completed the evaluation form.

After you view the pre-recorded content, you will complete a CE evaluation form that includes some quiz questions. When you complete it successfully, the certificate will display the date on which you completed the form, not the date on which the video first became available or when you viewed it.

What does the registration fee include?

AACN is pleased to again offer all-in-one pricing for the 2023 Conference. As such, your registration fee provides access to 100% of the conference content, including the live conference events and the pre-recorded CE workshops. Recordings will become available in June 2023 and will remain so for three months after the conclusion of the conference (i.e., September 2023).

Can I keep a copy of the recordings?

Attendees will have access to the pre-recorded content and live Q&A material during the conference and for up to three months after its conclusion (i.e., September 2023). This interval will provide plenty of time to view and enjoy all of the material. We do not allow any recordings to be saved, although you are welcome and encouraged to keep your copy of the workshop handouts.

What is AACN's policy on sponsors?

AACN receives funds from various test companies and publishers to provide financial support for receptions during the conference; however, no financial support is provided for individual workshops that offer CE credit.

Click here to learn more about becoming a sponsor!

How do I submit a poster abstract?

The poster abstract submission portal is open until 11:59 PM on January 31, 2023.

Where are most continuing education and other events located?
Continuing education sessions and other events are located on the Ballroom and Meeting Rooms Levels.
Where are Exhibitors located?
