Brief Program Description | Dallas VA offers a Major Area of Study (aka track) in Neuropsychology in which 3 of 4 rotations are based in neuropsychology or neurological conditions. Alongside clinical experiences, neuropsychology interns have dedicated didactics, case conceptualization hours and brain cutting experiences. Our internship is fully accredited through the American Psychological Association. The Clinical Neuropsychology Postdoctoral Residency at the VA North Texas Health Care System (VANTHCS) is primarily housed at the Dallas VA. This program is a member of Association of Postdoctoral Programs in Clinical Neuropsychology and is fully accredited as a specialty program in Clinical Neuropsychology though the American Psychological Association. We are a generalist program focusing on a complex pt population with a blend of neurological, psychiatric and medical factors. Residents spend a full 2 years embedded in the Neuropsychology Consult Team with additional minor rotations in Spinal Cord Injury Unit, Step down rehabilitation/residential care unit and geriatric/dementia team during their second year. In their second year, they also participate in tiered supervision activities. Dedicated didactics, including brain cutting is throughout the 2 year program. Involvement with Neurology (inpt rounds, outpt clinics) is also blended throughout the 2 year program. Please refer to our program brochures on our website for more comprehensive description. |
