Dear Members of the Selection Committee,
I am writing to express my interest in applying for the position of co-chair of the Pediatric Special Interest Group (SIG) of the American Academy of Clinical Neuropsychology (AACN). I believe I am well-equipped to contribute to the continued growth and advancement of the SIG, fostering collaborative efforts in this critical area of neuropsychological practice. Additionally, I am currently in a position where I have the time and capacity to effectively co-lead the SIG, collaborate with its members, and contribute to the SIG's initiatives between meetings.
I have spent over 9 years working as a licensed provider in the field of pediatric neuropsychology, focusing on the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with a variety of neurological, psychological, and developmental disorders. My professional journey has allowed me to develop a deep understanding of the unique challenges and needs of this population, as well as the critical importance of evidence-based approaches in clinical practice. I am committed to staying at the forefront of emerging research, and I am eager to co-lead and work with a community of experts that prioritizes innovation, education, and the dissemination of knowledge within the field.
In my current role as pediatric neuropsychologist, I have had the opportunity to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, supervise and mentor trainees and staff, and participate in research initiatives aimed at advancing our understanding of pediatric neuropsychology. I have been invited to co-author chapters and to speak in the community about topics related to pediatric brain injury. These experiences have honed my leadership, organizational, and communication skills, all of which I believe are essential for a successful co-chair. Additionally, my involvement in professional organizations, including mentoring individuals seeking board certification through AACN, continuing education chair at the Kennedy Krieger Institute, and participating as a program committee member for the National Academy of Neuropsychology (NAN), have provided me with insight into the importance of networking, advocacy, and collaboration in advancing the mission of professional groups like AACN.
If selected as co-chair, I would focus on fostering an inclusive, supportive environment where members of the Pediatric SIG can collaborate on research, share best practices, and address the evolving needs of pediatric neuropsychology. I am particularly interested in enhancing educational opportunities for SIG members and advocating for the continued integration of neuropsychological perspectives in pediatric healthcare settings.
I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to the Pediatric SIG’s mission and to help shape the future of clinical neuropsychology for children, adolescents, and across the lifespan. Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the possibility of working with fellow professionals, like Dr. Sakina Butt, who share a commitment to excellence in this vital area of practice.

Sincerely,
Danielle Ploetz, PhD, ABPP
