Cover Letter | Dear Dr. Butt and Members of the Selection Committee, I am pleased to submit my interest in the role of Co-Chair for the American Academy of Clinical Neuropsychology Pediatric Special Interest Group. As you can see from my CV, I have a longstanding interest and considerable experience in pediatric neuropsychology. I am interested in taking the next steps to contribute to pediatric neuropsychology at the national level and a leadership position within the AACN Pediatric SIG is an excellent opportunity to do so. Neuropsychology - especially pediatric neuropsychology - can be a “square peg in a round hole.” I often find myself explaining the importance of neuropsychology to clinical care, differences and highlights in the training processes, and the similarities and differences between pediatric neuropsychology and other providers/trainees. It is a privilege to educate others on our field and advocate for pediatric neuropsychology. The resources and community of AACN has been especially helpful and I would be honored to serve the academy as more than a member and contribute meaningfully to our specialized field. From early on in life, I knew that I wanted to establish a career working with children and followed through with college coursework and volunteer opportunities focused on children. My graduate training and subsequent employment have focused nearly exclusively in pediatric neuropsychology. My passions lie in pediatric neuropsychology clinical care and training the next generations of pediatric neuropsychologists. I achieved ABPP board certification in clinical neuropsychology and am in the process of working toward pediatric subspeciality board certification (passed written exam, preparing work samples). In an effort to expand my contributions beyond my home institutions, I have recently been chosen as a member of the American Psychological Association’s (APA) Society for Clinical Neuropsychology (SCN) Educational Advisory Committee (EAC). I am in my first year of my 3-year term as an EAC member and already have accomplished and am planning for modern and impactful initiatives that will affect current and future neuropsychology trainees and supervisors. I am pleased with the level of engagement that I have been able to have in my home institutions and now within the SCN EAC. However, I am looking for additional opportunities to support pediatric neuropsychology initiatives in our field at a higher level and to reach a greater number of current and future pediatric neuropsychologists. The opportunity to be the Co-Chair for the AACN Pediatric SIG is exactly the type of opportunity that I would love to participate in. I believe that I have the experience and devotion to pediatric neuropsychology needed to contribute to the SIG. Thank you for considering my application and please reach out if you have any questions or require more information. Sincerely, Amanda Winter-Greenberg PhD ABPP |
