Application for Conference Mentor Award
In 500 words or fewer, please describe (1) your prior mentorship experience and what you feel you can offer mentees from historically underrepresented backgrounds at the AACN annual meeting, and (2) how this mentorship experience will contribute to your professional goals. You also may describe the ways in which attending the AACN Annual Meeting would represent a financial hardship for you without this award.

I have mentored two interns through a NIAAA summer program to get research exposure for historically underrepresented college students. The goal of the program was to support students as they create their own research poster. I found this experience very rewarding to help a student gain more experience in research and academia, but also discuss their career goals and come up with actionable steps while also considering their context and values. My own background and experience also offer me a unique lens into understanding the role of access to resources and supports that can help make or break the process of becoming a neuropsychologist. I would be honored to help support a student, share my knowledge, but also be open to learning from my mentee, while we collaboratively learn about neuropsychology and network with other colleagues in the field.

This would also be my first time AACN, but not my first conference. I took a less traditional route to pediatric neuropsychology, and therefore, was not fortunate enough to attend AACN until now. I would really appreciate the opportunity to attend with your support.

Thank you for your consideration.
