Please provide a paragraph describing an example of your commitment to service. | My commitment to service in clinical neuropsychology is demonstrated through a series of diverse and enriching practicum experiences. At the Marshfield Clinic's neuroscience department, I honed my skills in neuropsychological assessment, working with both pediatric and adult patients using a wide range of tests. This foundation was further built upon at SSM Health Neuropsychology Clinic, where I developed skills in conducting patient and family interviews, preparing comprehensive neuropsychological reports, and providing feedback. Likewise, my time at Madison Neuropsychological Services allowed me to refine these skills, particularly in assessment and report writing. Currently, at the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin Pediatric Neuropsychology Clinic, I am expanding my experience in working with children and adolescents who have medical, neurological, and developmental conditions. These training experiences have not only deepened my understanding of clinical neuropsychology but have also reinforced my dedication to patient care and professional growth in this field. |
Please provide a paragraph describing an example of your ability to persevere or achieve despite barriers. | My journey in clinical neuropsychology demonstrated my perseverance in the face of challenges. Balancing a full PhD workload with an additional focus on neuropsychology, I actively pursued extra coursework in this specialty outside of my standard program requirements. Due to a lack of established neuropsychology practica from my program, I reached out to multiple neuropsychology clinics for practicum opportunities, successfully securing positions that support my neuropsychology pursuit. My typical week involves managing a 20-hour research assistantship, engaging in 1 to 1.5 days of neuropsychology practicum, and a full day at a high school practicum, all while managing long commutes due to family obligations. My resilience and unwavering commitment to advancing in the field of clinical neuropsychology motivate me to continuously persevere despite barriers. |
Please provide a paragraph discussing the potential benefits of your conference attendance to you and the professional community. | Attending the AACN conference will be immensely beneficial for both my professional development and the wider neuropsychological community. As a student, the conference offers a platform to access cutting-edge research and clinical practices, directly contributing to my research on learning difficulties, emotional regulation, and internalizing disorders. My unique background as a first-generation immigrant and multicultural/multilingual individual, coupled with my role as a student committee member in the Asian Neuropsychological Association, positions me to offer diverse perspectives and foster global connections. This attendance will not only enhance my understanding but also facilitate valuable contributions to the neuropsychology field. |
