Application for Student Assistant
By applying to be a student assistant, you agree to the following responsibilities/commitments:	I carefully reviewed the above responsibilities/commitments and agree with all of them. Job responsibilities: Cover shifts at the Help Desk. Help with scanning attendees for CE workshops. Maintain regular communication with student conference leaders and help problem solve any issues that arise. Attend a one-hour orientation virtually before the conference. Time commitment: Six to nine hours over the course of the conference.

Application for Conference Leader
By applying to be a conference leader, you agree to the following responsibilities/commitments:	I carefully reviewed the above responsibilities/commitments and agree with all of them. Job responsibilities: Attend select Conference Committee meetings. These currently occur the first Wednesday of the month at 4 PM ET. Help recruit student assistants via listservs and organizations (e.g., AACN, INS, etc.). Communicate with prospective student assistants regularly via email, text message, and/or online meetings as needed. Organize pertinent information (e.g., contact info, tentative availability during the conference). Schedule 1-2 training sessions with student assistants (using videoconferencing). Review job duties and answer questions with support from the Technology Manager and Conference Co-Chair(s). Keep up with changes that are made throughout the recruitment phase to assure all students assistants are updated. Create a schedule for student assistants based on availability and conference needs. Communicate job duties with student assistants. Problem solve changes to the schedule. Cover shifts at the Help Desk. Support student assistants and keep things organized. Maintain regular communication with your co-coordinator to problem solving if any issues that arise. Communicate with the Technology Manager, Conference Co-Chair(s), local event planners, Education Chair, and President as needed. Relay solutions to student assistants. Time commitment: 1-2 hours per month for attending meetings. Spring time leading up to the conference: Up to 15 hours per week creating and editing the schedule as well as communicating with your co-coordinator, committee, and student assistants. Arrive at conference Tuesday evening or Wednesday (6/11/24 or 6/12/24) before registration opens on Wednesday early afternoon and remain available through late afternoon Saturday (6/14/23) when the conference ends. Cover the Help Desk approximately three 4-hour shifts (12 hours total).

Personal Statement	I am interested in this position as I intend to go on to be a clinical neuropsychologist and find this conference invaluable. I may be unable to attend due to financial struggles and being below the poverty line while attending my graduate program. I hope to be able to attend talks, network with future internship sites, and be a diverse presence at the conference (LGBTQIA+). If I were in charge of a team of students I might notice that someone is not fulfilling their duty and/or trying to end their duty in order to attend a talk. I think most situations can be handled by making the person feel heard and validated while also explaining the necessity for people to do what they vowed to do in order to keep the conference running smoothly. I have been on the board of a graduate club at my university for over a year, where I organize and plan events for the wellness of our students including panels, outings, and initiatives on campus. I also am a co-director of our campus community behavioral health clinic where I help to keep the clinic running smoothly. This includes interacting with clients, supervisors, and student clinicians. I also participate in tiered supervision. For both these positions I must think on my feet to everything in order and running efficiently. I have gained experience delegating, having tough conversations, and taking on leadership roles.

Application for Scholarship	Travel scholarship awardees are provided with free conference registration and reimbursement of up to $550 of travel expenses to support conference attendance, including meals, hotel stay, and airfare.

I am committed to helping this conference fun smoothly as this conference is an important aspect of my career development and educational experiences. I am also interested in this position as I intend to go on to be a clinical neuropsychologist and find this conference invaluable. Please provide a paragraph describing an example of your ability to persevere or achieve despite barriers.	I have hit many different barriers during my time in graduate school. Some of these include navigating my LGBTQIA+ identity during a time of unprecedented discrimination while living in a state with views that conflict with my own. I have found that the ability to persevere comes from the determination to succeed but also from leaning on those around you during hard times. I also have found that it is important to focus on what is in our control and move the small pieces we can in the right direction in order to promote big change.
Please provide a paragraph discussing the potential benefits of your conference attendance to you and the professional community.	I believe I will benefit immensely from being able to attend AACN this year as I will be applying to internship next year and want to gain all the knowledge, experience, and networking opportunities I can at this time. I may be unable to attend due to financial struggles and being below the poverty line while attending my graduate program. I am a diverse presence at the conference (LGBTQIA+) and I think my perspectives and my research are important things that I can share with the professional community.
