The Neurology Center is a dynamic multi-site adult neurology practice in the Washington, DC metropolitan area with a growing neuropsychology division. Staff neuropsychologist duties include evaluation of patients’ neurocognitive, behavioral, and emotional functioning to aid in diagnosis and prescribing treatment. Referrals include a variety of neurologic and neuropsychiatric cases referred from the in-house neurologists as well as from neurologists and other professionals in the community. Candidate should have a doctoral degree in psychology from an accredited university training program, an internship or its equivalent in a clinically relevant area of professional psychology, the equivalent of two full-time years of experience and specialized training, at least one of which is at the post-doctoral level, in the study and practice of clinical neuropsychology and related neurosciences, including supervision by a clinical neuropsychologist, and be licensed or license-eligible in Maryland. Board certification in neuropsychology is desirable but not required. Bilingual with experience in cross-cultural neuropsychology is preferred but not required. Essential Functions
Assessment: Assists in differentiation between memory decline associated with normal aging and clinically significant memory impairment, such as Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (e.g., vascular dementia, Parkinson’s dementia, frontotemporal dementia, and dementia with Lewy bodies). Provides diagnostic clarity in the context of coexisting neurological, medical, and psychiatric illness (e.g., evaluating cognitive changes in a young stroke patient with comorbid depression, or identifying medication-induced cognitive impairment). Assists with evaluation before and after procedures (e.g., ventricular shunt implementation or epilepsy surgery) to help determine if a given treatment is appropriate and whether treatment has had any positive or negative effects on cognitive functioning. Provides a baseline assessment against which subsequent evaluations can be compared in the context of progressive neurological illnesses. Assesses daily functioning abilities (e.g., financial or medication management) for which patients may require assistance, and provides capacity evaluations of neurological patients with regard to their medical and financial decision-making ability. Provides recommendations for the care of the patient based on their cognitive and functional deficits (e.g., cognitive-behavioral therapy, social work consultation, referral to a neurologist for further medical/neurological evaluation, long-term care placement).

Administration: Guides and directs support staff. Communicates treatment and discharge plan. Completes documentation. Schedules patient activities according to patient individual needs. Identifies continuing education needs within the Neurosciences Institute or the facility/Novant Health at large. Participates in team conference and functions as a part of an interdisciplinary treatment team. Collaborates with clinic providers to streamline workflow. Provides services in a manner to maintain patient/family dignity, privacy and safety. Provides community education. Meets productivity expectations and utilizes downtime to meet department priorities. Meets facility requirements without reminder (i.e. AME, CPR certification, etc.) Communicates and coordinates care with appropriate personnel. Adheres to departmental expectations for attendance, punctuality and dress. Provides system-wide education to appropriate staff.

Financial: Maintains awareness of patient’s insurance limitations and financial resources to ensure resources are used most appropriately to meet patient’s needs in a cost-effective manner.

Customer Service: Demonstrates good customer relations skills. Assists in program development. Promotes physician relationships. Attends meetings related to clinical growth and collaboration

 

Qualifications
Education: PhD or PsyD from an APA-accredited college or university required.
Experience: Minimum of two years of post-doctoral supervision under a licensed neuropsychologist.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Valid license to practice Clinical Psychology in North Carolina required.
PSYPACT member preferred, but we can assist you in applying if not already done (i.e. needed if giving virtual feedbacks to a patient living across the state line in SC).
Additional Skills Required: Knowledge of social service agencies, state regulations, and APA standards as related to client treatment, patient rights, and client/patient confidentiality.

Summary of position:
Reporting to the Director of Assessment Services, the Neuropsychologist/Testing Psychologist provides high quality psychological testing to a culturally diverse population of children and young adults ages 2-22.  The Neuropsychologist/Testing Psychologist will work in collaboration with a highly trained team of evidence-based practice clinicians to empower neurodiverse children and adolescents and their families to understand the child’s cognitive, social emotional and academic profile.
 
The Neuropsychologist/Testing Psychologist provides high fidelity cognitive, educational, developmental, psychological, and neuropsychological evaluation and testing services to children ages 2-22 presenting with a range of neurodevelopmental difficulties.  These include ADHD, disruptive behaviors, autism spectrum disorder, learning disabilities/dyslexia, trauma, anxiety and mood disorders, as well as medical and neurological conditions, and other challenges.

– Specialty training in neuropsychology (consistent with Houston/Minnesota Conference guidelines), including a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in neuropsychology.
– Board Certification in Neuropsychology is preferred; board certification eligible applicants are also encouraged to apply.
Experience:
– This position is open to junior and mid-career candidates with experience conducting neuropsychological/neurodevelopmental assessments.
– Experience conducting early childhood, cognitive, educational, developmental, and neuropsychological testing.
Training:

neurological disorders, etc. Although the main focus is on outpatient work, there are opportunities to participate in our inpatient neurological rehabilitation program, emphasizing interdisciplinary team work, brief cognitive assessment, and individual and group therapy.

Direct services may include assessment and treatment for the full range of mental health issues. Treatment modalities may include individual and group counseling. Indirect services include case management, supervision, consultation, and serving as liaison between the ISU Community Psychiatric Center, the Department of Psychology, ISU Health Clinics, and ISU’s Athletics Department.

 

Clinical and didactic teaching opportunities with a clinical faculty appointment are also available.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

• Provide direct clinical services to clients through neuropsychological assessment and coordination of intervention services and resources.

 

• Collaborate and consult with behavioral/mental health, psychiatric and medical providers, and other health service providers and community to best manage clinical caseload and ensure effective treatment.

 

• Documentation of clinical services.

 

• Maintain electronic medical and other records, including registries for high-risk clients/patients.

 

• Design and conduct developmental and outreach activities related to the needs of student-athletes and the Athletics department.

 

• Adhere to NCAA and/or agency standards regarding case management, documentation, and parameters of service, including occasional availability for emergency response or outreach during non-traditional hours of operation.

 

• Marketing clinical services for the ISU Community Psychiatric Center.

 

• Facilitate community partnerships.

 

• Oversee the collection of revenue generated from clinical services.

 

• Establish clientele and generate revenue to assist with a self-sustaining clinic.

 

• Teach one course per Fall and Spring semester.

 

• Supervise psychology externs and teach, as negotiated, within the clinical psychology and other curricula.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

• A doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) from an accredited graduate program in psychology

 

• Completion of an APA/CPA accredited internship program

 

• Licensed or License-eligible in the State of Idaho

 

• Board Certified or eligible for board certification in clinical neuropsychology

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

• Three years or more experience as a licensed practitioner.

 

• Experience working with college students or adolescent clients.

Nemours Children’s Hospital, Florida, is seeking a to add a full-time Pediatric Neuropsychologist to our growing team in the Division of Neurology in Orlando.  Training is available for a Neuropsychologist with an interest in epilepsy.
 
The Neuropsychologist will spend the major part of their time completing epilepsy surgical work up including:
     * Epilepsy presurgical work up
     * Epilepsy post-surgical follow up
     * Functional MRI testing
     * Cortical mapping for localization of eloquent areas of the brain
 
The remaining time will be spent on patients with epilepsy, neuromuscular, developmental delay, neuroimmunology issues and other common neurological conditions.
 
We are currently developing an ambitious, multidisciplinary pediatric neurosciences program for Florida.  Our epilepsy surgery program is rapidly growing. We have a great epilepsy team with 4 epileptologists, one functional neurosurgeon, 2 APPs, experienced EEG technologists and nurses. We have a 6 bed EMU and ROSA. We expect to be testing around 50 phase 1 patients a year. 
 
At least 50% of the Neuropsychologist’s time will be devoted to this work.  Additionally, this position will support other clinical programs like neuromuscular, neuroimmunology and headache.  The bulk of the current need is for general neurology patients with cognitive dysfunction and decline. 
 
We have a busy outpatient practice with strong ancillary support including a dedicated Psychometrist, advanced practice providers (APP), nurses, certified EEG technicians, occupational and physical therapists, and social workers. Faculty is expected to cover the inpatient service in rotation. The inpatient team includes adult neurology resident, pediatric resident and medical students and APPs in the EMU.
 
 
 
Required qualifications include:
     * Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.)
     * Completion of 1- 2 Year Neuropsychology Fellowship
     * ABPP & EPPP Certification, special expertise in epilepsy surgical evaluation
