Sinai Hospital of Baltimore is seeking a Medical Health Psychologist who under limited supervision, participates in the administration and delivery of various psychological services to medical patients including assessment, consultation, and intervention. Provides direct patient care through interview of patient and their families/caregivers; administration, scoring and interpretation of psychological measures, development of intervention plan, and implementation of this plan with the patient and family/caregivers. Reviews medical, educational and psychological information to form behavioral and cognitive interventions. Provides verbal and written consultation to referring physicians and other clinical staff on behalf of their patients. Develops and maintains educational programs for patients with neurological disorders including but not limited to stroke, epilepsy, brain injury, pain secondary to neurological disorders, multiple sclerosis, dementia and pseudo tumor cerebri. Participates in a clinical training program for pre and post doctoral students in neuropsychology and psychology.

Seasoned professional knowledge; equivalent to a Master’s degree; knowledge in more than one discipline. Doctorate of Psychology; minimum requirment of 2 years supervised experience and successful passing of state licensing exam. 1-3 years of experience. Saint Luke’s Neurosciences is searching for an experienced, doctoral level neuropsychologist with background in the evaluation and treatment of adults with a variety of neurological and medical disorders. Experience working with primary care providers is desirable. Opportunities for teaching and supervision in APA accredited internship training program.

In 2013, the Neuroscience Institute moved to 80,000 square feet of dedicated space for the Neurosciences, the result of a $330 million expansion and renovation of the hospital campus. The facility features an 18 bed neuro intensive care unit, 4 dedicated neurosurgical operating rooms, 2 neuroradiology interventional suites, a dedicated EEG monitoring unit, a full service neurodiagnostics lab and 3 inpatient units for patients with neurologic disorders.

Qualifications:
Minimum Education/Work experience

  • Doctoral degree in psychology obtained from an APA-approved program with appropriate clinical training AND
  • Completion of an APA approved internship AND
  • One or more years of supervised post-doctoral experience as a neuropsychologist in a medical or related setting AND
  • Training appropriate to the area of specialization is required.
  • Post-doctoral training and experience in Neuropsychology, including board-certified or board eligible in Clinical Neuropsychology (ABPP), is highly desired.

Licensure

  • Certified (or eligible for certification) as a Licensed Psychologist. Candidates completing their postdoctoral experience will be considered at the Clinical Psychologist level.

Specific job activities and accountabilities include:

  • Conduct diagnostic and neuropsychological assessments of clients to identify diagnosis, determine client needs, and assist in development of treatment goals and plans.
  • Administer, score, and interpret psychological and neuropsychological tests, and write comprehensive reports of neurocognitive functions, intelligence, and other test findings.
  • Provide mental health therapy or cognitive rehabilitation (e.g., individual, group, and/or family) to adults and/or the elderly, as appropriate.
  • Record patient progress notes and attendance.
  • Work in a multidisciplinary team setting, with participation in regularly scheduled rounds and other communications with members of an outpatient rehabilitation team, to integrate findings for treatment planning.
  • Provide consultation on diagnosis, treatment, and other neuropsychological issues to medical and mental health professionals, government agencies, community organization, and/or schools.
  • Supervise and train entry-level clinical/neuropsychologists, graduate students, and/or resident physicians.
  • Supervise, review and approve diagnostic evaluations, treatment plans, and progress notes compiled by non-licensed psychologists and graduate students as appropriate.
  • Assist in maintaining standards for clinic accreditation by health management organizations, internship program accreditation by the American Psychological Association, and state licensure.
  • Complete necessary documentation to bill health management organizations and other payers for client services.
  • Provide court testimony pertaining to neuropsychological assessments of clients.
  • Develop and participate in clinical research projects as needed.
  • Perform other related duties.

The individual selected for this position will complete neuropsychological evaluations, contribute to professional education of psychology and other trainees, and collaborate with other faculty in scholarly activities. Patients served are typically 18+ years old and present with various medical and/or neurologic conditions (e.g., epilepsy, neurodegenerative disease, stroke, multiple sclerosis, movement disorders, solid organ transplant).
