We are pleased to announce a full-time position opening for a clinical neuropsychologist to join our private practice in Houston, TX. We have been in business for over 25 years and enjoy a steady and growing referral base of neurologists, psychiatrists, and other specialists. Our patients typically fall within the geriatric (60%) and adult (35%) age range, although we also see a minority of children and adolescents (5%).
The position is full-time, salaried, and includes numerous benefits (paid time off, health insurance, retirement plan with matching employer contributions, short- and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, licensure renewal fees, parking, and support for board certification costs). Minimum qualifications include: 1) a doctoral degree in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, or clinical neuropsychology; 2) completion of a postdoctoral fellowship in neuropsychology; and 3) licensure as a psychologist. The candidate must have training in clinical neuropsychology consistent with the Houston Conference guidelines and be eligible for board certification in clinical neuropsychology through the American Board of Professional Psychology. Texas licensure is preferred, although candidates licensed in other states or provinces are encouraged to apply as well. Texas has reciprocity at the doctorate level with four states (Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri, and Nebraska) and two Canadian provinces (Manitoba and Ontario).

Duties:
The Disabled Student Programs and Services (DSPS) is seeking a full-time Acquired Brain Impairments ABI faculty member.
– Assess the cognitive and physical abilities and limitations of ABI students as they pertain to the functional requirements of the college activities and curriculum;
– Recommend, develop and implement specialized instruction and learning strategies for ABI students;
– Create student educational contracts/plans and facilitating enrollment and both specialized instruction and general college courses with ABI students;
– Recommend appropriate academic adjustments and facilitate implementation of accommodations for ABI students in coordination with DSPS service providers and general college resources;
– Respond to referrals for college enrollment of ABI students from medical rehabilitation professionals and the agents of those with ABI;
– Participate in DSPS and Student Services staff meetings and departmental training, as well as peer evaluations and committees; and,
– Provide in-service opportunities about ABI students for general faculty and staff;
– Maintain records and reporting documents.
– Serve as the liaison with the college student services, general college faculty and staff, such as the Emeritus College and the Veterans Resource Center, and the community at-large.
– Provide leadership in curriculum and service development and evaluation.
– Work evening and weekend hours as required and others duties as required. The faculty member will maintain office hours, participate in curriculum development and revision, serve on college committees, engage in professional development, contribute to department responsibilities such as program review.

Minimum Qualifications:
The minimum requirements for service as a community college faculty member to provide credit specialized instruction for students with disabilities shall be satisfied by meeting the following requirements:
(1) Possession of a master’s degree, or equivalent foreign degree, in the category of disability, special education, education, psychology, educational psychology, or rehabilitation counseling; and
(2) Fifteen semester units of upper division or graduate study in the area of disability, to include, but not be limited to:
(A) Learning disabilities;
(B) Developmental disabilities;
(C) Deaf and hearing impaired;
(D) Physical disabilities; or
(E) Adapted computer technology
OR the equivalent* OR possession of an appropriate valid California Community College Credential authorizing service in the specified subject area(s).
Preferred Qualifications::
Master’s degree in Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy or Neuropsychology and at least two years of experience providing educational and support services for a community college students with ABI. Knowledge of theories or physical disability, psychosocial dysfunction, education and community systems; knowledge of clinical, social service, rehabilitation, and consumer organizations; knowledge of legal rights of individuals with disabilities with post-secondary institutions; experience with program evaluation, research methods and design; experience in educational in-service training; experience with writing and publication skills; evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the issues surrounding globalization, environmental sustainability, the socio-economic, academic, cultural and ethnic diversity within the community college student population including students with physical and/or learning disabilities as these factors relate to differences in learning styles; familiarity with service learning and interdisciplinary studies.

Selection Process:
The selection process shall include the following steps:

(c) Upon completion of initial interview process, the selection committee will recommend candidates for final interview with the Superintendent/President who will recommend a candidate for appointment by the Board of Trustees.
Applicants will be notified by letter of their status as the committee progresses through the hiring process. Candidates who are selected for a final interview with the Superintendent/President should not expect official notification of the status of candidacy until the Board of Trustees has acted upon the Superintendent/President’s recommendation.
