Job Summary

The Clinical Neuropsychologist is responsible for providing comprehensive neuropsychological and academic evaluations for children, adolescents and young adults with a variety of concerns. Typical presentations include individuals with language or learning disorders, ADHD, Autistic Spectrum Disorders, and other conditions that interfere with school functioning including intellectual disabilities, emotional disorders, and nonverbal learning weaknesses. Our group provides early childhood evaluations that partner a speech and language evaluation with a cognitive/developmental assessment for children age 1-5. We also see many school age and high school students in public, independent and specialized school settings. We also often see young adults who are transitioning to college or vocational settings.

Remediation services in our center include writing remediation, organizational skills work, and more generalized cognitive remediation. Additionally, our group often provides public workshops, written content for the childmind.org website and school consultation regarding accommodations and interventions for our students.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Exceptional clinical skills in the area of neuropsychological assessment of children and adolescents,
  • Prior experience in providing cognitive remediation or school consultation for children with LD, ADHD or other behavior problems,
  • Demonstrated expertise in psychological evaluations (including the use of personality measures and projectives), autism evaluations (including the use of the ADOS-2 and ADI-R), early childhood developmental evaluations, and evaluations with ID/DD populations,
  • Demonstrated experience in working clinically with complex comorbid presentations including mood, anxiety, personality, and other psychiatric disorders,
  • Prior experience supervising and training post doctoral neuropsychology trainees,
  • Demonstrated experience with professional writing as well as with public speaking,
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of individuals/groups,
  • Motivated self-starter with great attitude, flexibility, and enterprising spirit,
  • Ability to work under pressure to prioritize and manage workload, manage simultaneous tasks and meet deadlines within a fast-paced and changing environment, and

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree from an APA-accredited program in clinical psychology
  • Completion of an APA-approved clinical pre-doctoral internship

  • Current New York State psychology license
