The Role at a Glance

Lincoln Financial Group is seeking Clinical Neuropsychologists as well as other behavioral health and medical professionals to work as Independent Consulting Physicians (ICPs). As an ICP, you should have an active clinical practice or clinical teaching appointment, which permits a minimum of 10 hours per week that can be dedicated to this role. The ICP is an independent contractor and is not eligible for employee benefits.

Your role will include reviewing medical records for disability insurance claims from employed individuals who have medical conditions that may impair their ability to perform usual work activities. This role does not involve patient evaluation or care.

What you’ll be doing

  • Review claim files and respond to claim manager questions regarding the available medical information. Claim-related questions may include, but are not limited to, assessment of the degree of impairment, restrictions and limitations, prognosis, standards of care, treatment opportunities, and causal and/or contributory medical associations. The scope of inquiry and review does not including making contractual and/or benefit determinations.
  • Provide a rationale for opinions that is supported by the standards of care and the peer reviewed medical literature. Describe additional information that if it became available may be useful to further address the questions.
  • Communicate with treating providers as needed to clarify medical information and the treatment provider assessments of relevant factors.
  • Consult with Lincoln’s Medical Directors and/or relevant Lincoln employees or staff regarding any uncertain issues that may arise in the performance of review activities to ensure appropriate resolution.
  • Adhere to privacy and other relevant information handling and security regulations.

Note that our group of neuropsychological ICPs is the best qualified in the disability insurance industry with all having the ABPP-CN designation. Experience in performing disability reviews is desirable, but not required. We provide each ICP with a laptop computer and onboarding support.

An exciting leadership opportunity for a clinical psychologist or neuropsychologist dedicated to pediatric specialty care.

This position is based in an active Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics program, which is part of a multi-specialty pediatric group practice at the largest medical center in the state of Maine. The patient mix includes children from infancy through adolescence with Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADHD, developmental and/or cognitive delays, learning disorders, mood and anxiety disorders, behavior problems, sleep disorders, encopresis, and other neurodevelopmental concerns. The Psychologist/Neuropsychologist Supervisor is expected to dedicate 80% of their time to clinical work and 20% to supervision of licensed psychologists in the Department of Pediatrics.

The Psychologist/Neuropsychologist Supervisor is expected to perform neuropsychological or psychological assessments (depending on profession). If interested, the psychologist may also provide specialized psychological interventions for children and adolescents. The Psychologist or Neuropsychologist also provides clinical and administrative supervision of licensed psychologists in the Department of Pediatrics at the medical center. This individual will be expected to actively participate in the educational mission of the hospital, which may include supervision, teaching, and consultation with psychology trainees, pediatrics residents, medical students, and other trainees.

Requirements

· Education: Advanced skills in psychology or neuropsychology evaluation, treatment, and consultation acquired through the completion of a doctoral program accredited by the American Psychological Association, or equivalent, as recognized by the Maine Board of Examiners of Psychologists, and all required pre-doctoral, internship, and postdoctoral training.

· License/Certifications: Licensed or license eligible as a Psychologist by the Maine Board of Examiners of Psychologists. For Neuropsychologist candidates, board certification or eligibility for certification in clinical neuropsychology by the American Board of Clinical Neurology/American Board Professional Psychology.

· Experience (for Neuropsychologist Candidates): A minimum of four years of clinical experience providing neuropsychological services in a medical/clinical setting. The equivalent of two years (full-time) of experience and specialized training, at least one of which is at the post-doctoral level, in the study and practice of clinical neuropsychology and related neurosciences. These two years include receiving supervision from a clinical neuropsychologist.

· Experience (for Psychologist Candidates): A minimum of four years of clinical experience providing psychological services in a medical/clinical setting.

· Necessary personal, professional, and interpersonal skills required to conduct psychological or neuropsychological evaluations and interventions with patients and their families, as well as to work effectively as a member of the health care team.

Southern Maine Health Care’s Center for Developmental Medicine is seeking a Pediatric Neuropsychologist to join their growing clinical practice in Kennebunk, Maine.

The Pediatric Neuropsychologist will be responsible for performing comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations, diagnosis and specialized psychological interventions for children and adolescents with documented neuropsychological related disorders and/or conditions affecting CNS functioning and development including brain injury, medical disease, developmental problems, effects of trauma/neglect, children born addicted, etc. These patients are at risk for or are demonstrating developmental, cognitive, behavioral, and emotional disorders which cause difficulty navigating the requirements of school, work, and relationships. This position will also work closely with families to develop and provide appropriate interventions.

This clinician will be joining an established and successful community practice and will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of six care team members, including a Developmental Pediatrician, Developmental Behavioral Health Nurse Care Manager, Neuro-Assessment Clinic Coordinator/Psychometrician, Medical Practice Administrator, Medical Assistant, and Scheduler.

In addition, this role offers the opportunity to be actively involved in the educational mission of the health system, which may include supervision, teaching, and consultation with psychology trainees, pediatric residents, medical students, and other trainees.

The preferred candidate will have at least two years of clinical experience following a post-doctoral fellowship, experience/expertise in Autism evaluation, training in ADOS and an interest in working with pediatric patients under the age of 21. The successful candidate will be organized, methodical and a collaborative team player.
