The Department of Neurology, along with the Glenn Biggs Institute for Alzheimer’s & Neurodegenerative Diseases (Biggs Institute), at the Long School of Medicine, UT Health San Antonio (UTHSA) is seeking a full-time Division Chief of clinical neuropsychology at the rank of Professor or Associate Professor with a strong track record in clinical care and research and preferably leadership experience. The selected candidate will receive salary support from and report to both the Chair of Neurology and the Director of the Glenn Biggs Institute for Alzheimer’s & Neurodegenerative Diseases.

This position involves leading an excellent team of neuropsychologists with broad clinical and research interests in a setting that includes a Clinical Neuropsychology fellowship, an NIA Funded Alzheimer Disease Research Center, robust surgical programs in epilepsy and deep brain stimulation and multidisciplinary clinics in ALS, FTD and movement disorders. A suitable candidate could be offered an endowed chair position and will receive a competitive package of salary, benefits and resources, consistent with University of Texas guidelines. This position involves ensuring access and equity in providing exceptional clinical services to adult outpatients, who present with a wide variety of neurological and/or medical conditions including: epilepsy, movement disorders, Alzheimer’s disease, frontotemporal dementia, Dementia with Lewy bodies and related neurodegenerative diseases, neuromuscular diseases, multiple sclerosis, lupus, traumatic brain injury, CTE, post-acute sequelae of COVID stroke and vascular cognitive impairment. Neuropsychology faculty participate in a number of subspecialty multidisciplinary clinics (e.g., dementia, Parkinson’s disease, ALS, pre-surgical conferences, and multiple sclerosis) and lead or co-lead clinical trials. Emphasis is placed on time-efficient, integrated patient care, as well as novel digital assessment platforms. 

The candidate will supervise, mentor or co-mentor, grow and support a vibrant team of clinical and research scientists, who are conducting cutting-edge research within a collegial atmosphere and will have strong and committed support and mentorship. Together, the Biggs Institute and Department of Neurology obtained over $20M in NIH funding last year. Opportunities exist to participate in or co-lead local, national, and international research consortiums. Big-data and team-based approaches are integral with opportunities to collaborate with epidemiologists, biostatisicians, geneticists, and neuroradiologists with clinical and research interests. Resources include a growing Brain Bank, Biobank, high performance computing cluster, a Research Imaging Institute with a several PET scanners, on-site cyclotron, multiple 3T brain MRI. Partnerships with a NIA funded Nathan Shock and Claude Pepper Center (studying aging), a PM&R department with a special interest in TBI and long-COVID, a NCI Designated Cancer Treatment and Research Center that partners with MD Anderson, and the Audie Murphy VA, a leader in PTSD, provide additional opportunities for collaboration.

By 2025, the Biggs Institute and Department of Neurology will be moving to an integrated 5 story
‘Center for Brain Health’ building that will house clinical and clinical research facilities (including imaging and infusion) and faculty offices. This building will include half a floor dedicated to neuropsychology clinics.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Ph.D. degree in Psychology or a related field and have completed a postdoctoral fellowship including clinical experience in neuropsychological assessment/consultation. Must maintain Continuing Education credit sufficient to maintain both their clinical license and to meet medical facility specific Quality Assurance standards for credentialing.
  • Must have attended a formal neuropsychological fellowship in clinical Neuropsychology, and be skilled in specialized testing and assessment procedure.
  • 5+ years of relevant Neuropsychology clinical/ research experience (includes post doc fellowship/ internship, etc).
  • 2+ years of experience with administration and interpretation of various neuropsychologist tests.

As the traumatic brain injury (TBI) Pathway of Care manager within the Military Health System (MHS), the Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center promotes state-of-the-science care from point-of-injury to reintegration for service members, veterans, and their families to prevent and mitigate consequences of mild to severe TBI.

The Sr. Clinical Research Director will provide leadership to ensure all operations support quality patient care and clinical research and comply with all Command, federal, state, regulatory, TBI CoE and contractor requirements.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Directs and provides oversight of research related activities at the TBI CoE site.
  • Establishes and maintains appropriate staff to ensure that patient care and clinical research projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the agreed quality standard.

  • Supervises contract staff training, promotes development with immediate and direct feedback, and completes performance evaluations for contract clinical, research, and education staff working under this contract.
  • Collaborates with physicians in other medical specialties on cases involving complicated and multi-faceted problems. Provides educational presentations on TBI regularly to the appropriate audiences.
  • Oversees the design and execution of clinical research initiatives, and their compliance with all regulatory bodies.
  • Supports TBI research through development and implementation of research studies in collaboration with research professionals locally and nationally.
  • Ensures effective communication and knowledge sharing with TBI CoE research colleagues and scientific team.
  • Contributes to the preparation of research manuscripts for publication in the area of TBI, and present papers at scientific meetings, as possible.
  • Serves as a liaison between DVBIC nationally, locally, and the Command. Collaborates with Program Manager and monitors contract program activities (e.g. staff training and performance; recruitment and hiring; and planning).

The Department of Neurology at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine is recruiting for a full-time Clinical Neuropsychologist in the Professor of Clinical Neurology or Health Sciences Clinical Professor series at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor rank.

Faculty in the Clinical Neurology series are expected to engage in professional competence and activity, teaching, research and creative work, and University/public service. The Neurosciences Program at Advocate Aurora Health is rapidly growing, and neuropsychology is a valued part of this multidisciplinary team that delivers comprehensive and compassionate care to individuals with complex neurological and neurodevelopmental disorders. We are pleased to announce three pediatric neuropsychologist openings in the greater Milwaukee area. The first position will be in Greenfield, the second will be in Hartland, and the third will be in Milwaukee (Aurora Sinai Medical Center). Primary responsibilities include neuropsychological evaluations of children and adolescents in an outpatient clinic setting. Patient referrals will come from pediatrics, neurology, psychiatry, and other services throughout the Advocate Aurora system.

The positions are primarily clinical. Experience working with both medical/neurological and developmentally based patient populations is highly preferred. Opportunities for research and training of graduate students are available if desired. Qualified candidates will have completed a 2-year fellowship in neuropsychology, be license-eligible in the state of Wisconsin, and be board certified or eligible for board certification in clinical neuropsychology.

The Neuropsychology Department at Advocate Aurora Health consists of 9 adult neuropsychologists and 3 pediatric neuropsychologists. Advocate Aurora is the largest healthcare system in Wisconsin. COMMENCEMENT DATE: The training year commences July, 2023 and ends July 2024.  The 1-year postdoctoral fellowship is funded by the State of Florida Ed and Ethel Moore Alzheimer’s Disease Research Program.  There is an optional second year.

1.    Ph.D. or Psy.D. from an APA accredited graduate training program in Clinical Psychology.

2.    Completed an APA accredited internship with a major emphasis in neuropsychological assessment.

Fellowship applications would be reviewed by a committee of mentors.  Candidates will be evaluated with regards to their a) potential for a career in clinical research; b) research interests and experience; and c) letters of support.

TRAINING EMPHASIS: The focus of the research fellowship is to train a promising postdoctoral student to study more innovative ways of assessing and diagnosing persons in the earliest stages of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease (AD).  There is also a strong focus on cross-cultural neuropsychological assessment.  Clinical training hours for licensure in the state of Florida are offered. 

This training opportunity exposes a post-doctoral fellow to: a) study the earliest clinical and cognitive manifestations of AD and ADRD; b) participate in the development and implementation of novel measures to assess cognition; c) learn to clinically evaluate different ethnic and cultural groups for early stage mild cognitive impairment; d) learn how to interpret and to conduct research relating cognitive and functional test findings to biological measures of the brain (e.g., structural MRI, amyloid PET, plasma biomarkers) and e) learn to prepare manuscripts for peer review, grant writing.

Fellows will participate in diagnostic interviews, research team meetings, neuropsychological and functional testing as well as supervision of graduate students.  The post-doctoral fellow will participate as a team member in the 1Florida Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC), an NIA designated Center of Excellence in Alzheimer’s disease.

STIPEND AND BENEFITS: The stipend will be $50,000 per year with benefits.
