Job Requisition Number 20612Akron Children’s Hospital is seeking a pediatric/lifespan neuropsychologist for a full-time position specializing in neuropsychological assessment of children of all ages. These positions are administratively housed in the Division of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health and services are provided in the NeuroDevelopmental Science Center, which includes Neurology, Neurosurgery, Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics, and Physiatry. These positions offer a unique opportunity to join an existing team of neuropsychologist and to specialize in patients with Neurofibromatosis, patients from our neuro-oncology program, patients admitted to our intensive inpatient and day rehabilitation programs, and/or patients with congenital heart defects. Specialization will be dependent on candidate interest, and additional opportunities for specialization may be available upon request. There are also opportunities to provide general neuropsychological services for children and families dealing with epilepsy, traumatic brain injury, metabolic disorders, cranio-facial disorders, Turner Syndrome, genetic disorders, renal transplantation clearance evaluations, and long-term effects of perinatal issues. The neuropsychology service is supported by full-time psychometricians.

There are excellent clinical and research opportunities for collaboration with pediatric neuropsychologists and psychologists, physicians, nurses and other health care professionals as members of the multidisciplinary team, and the Neuropsychology Service maintains an active and large database comprised of every patient seen. Academic appointment appropriate to rank is provided through Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED), and all licensed psychologists are members of the Medical Staff at Akron Children’s Hospital and serve on hospital committees. Supervision, teaching, and training of graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in neuropsychology (APPCN) and psychology (APPIC), pediatric medical residents, developmental behavioral pediatrics fellows, and child psychiatry fellows are integral components of position responsibilities.

CLINICAL NEUROPSYCHOLOGIST POSITION AVAILABLE

Southern Oregon Neuropsychological Clinic is presently recruiting for the position of Clinical Neuropsychologist.  We accept referrals for patients as young as six, although at this time the vast majority of our patients are adult to geriatric. Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA), a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School (HMS), has a full-time opening for a Lead Adult Neuropsychologist in the Outpatient Neuropsychology and Psychological Assessment Clinic (NAPA) within the Department of Psychiatry. 

CHA is comprised of three hospital campuses and an integrated network of both primary and specialty outpatient care practices in Cambridge, Somerville, and Boston’s Metro North Region. It serves a rich, culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse population. The NAPA clinic provides outpatient/inpatient care to a range of adult patients with primary neurological, medical, psychiatric, and developmental disorders. CHA is looking for a position to be filled for a Lead Adult Neuropsychologist. The Neuropsychologist will provide managerial oversight of NAPA (6 hours/weekly) and direct clinical service. Neuropsychological services are available across outpatient and inpatient psychiatry, medicine, and in primary care. The Neuropsychologist will also supervise evaluations and treatment provided by neuropsychology trainees as assigned, participate/teach in diverse training activities within the Department, and participate in QI activities to improve patient outcomes, satisfaction, and the delivery of services.

Administrative duties will include:

Assist Director with management of all NAPA services, programs and participate in program development. Responsibilities include:

– case assignments to staff and trainees (neuropsych and psych testing).

JOB SUMMARY

·   The Neuropsychologist performs evaluations in the Outpatient Physician’s Clinic for a wide range of conditions related to central nervous system dysfunction. Referrals include dementia, Parkinson’s disease and Parkinson Plus Syndromes, deep-brain stimulation evaluations, mild cognitive impairment, traumatic brain injury, multiple sclerosis, autism, ADHD, and neuropsychiatric disorders. Additionally, the Neuropsychologist provides inpatient consultations as needed and participates in on-call coverage for suicide risk management.      

 

WORK DEMANDS

This position requires working in the hospital, particularly on the patient units part of the time. This means occasional exposure to wet, humid, or dry conditions, as well noise, odors, hazards, and blood borne pathogens. The Neuropsychologist occasionally works alone, but usually is working with a variety of individuals, often in crowded areas. This position also requires on-call coverage for at least one week per month for the whole department.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provides appropriate, timely evaluation and follow-up with assigned patients, per departmental policies. Documentation and billing is completed per departmental and hospital requirements.

Provides prompt suicide risk screenings, per policy, of assigned patients, with immediate documentation of results. Follows all guidelines of the on-call policy.

Provides consultation, direct care services, and other needed activities, as requested by the Medical Director of Neuropsychology.

Supports research endeavors that may require his/her participation.

Keeps the Medical Director of Neuropsychology  informed regarding patient issues, potential complaints, and system problems or concerns, as well as personal productivity.

Maintains awareness of, and adheres to, hospital policies and procedures. This includes the Hospital QI and Psychology QI programs, as well as OPPE, Peer Review, and departmental educational opportunities.
